I’m a big believer in developing good habits to help you conquer goals, live a healthier life and if you can save some money along the way—yea!!
Here are my top 10 habits I do every day:
#1 Make Your Bed Everyday: start your day off completing this task first. I love this because if you don’t end up accomplishing anything else on your to do list at least you have one check mark. Plus there is something about the peace you will feel when you walk in to go to sleep at night and your bed looks so inviting.
#2 Exercise: some form of movement every day is fundamental to your health. This can be as simple as a walk down the block or as extreme as marathon training. Not only does exercising release positive endorphins into the brain but I also think it sets the stage for your day. I personally like to work out in the morning (part of that is because I love to run and the afternoons in South Florida just get wayyyy to hot) so I can kick start my day in the “right” direction. Exercising boosts my energy, clears my mind and helps me to tackle that never-ending to do list.
#3 Write Down Your Goals for the Day (and for Life): I start my day off by writing down my to do list. Sometimes it’s as simple as go to the grocery, meal prep, go for a run while other times it’s stay positive today, focus on your accomplishments and slow down. It doesn’t matter if my list is more about completing errands or more about my mental or physical health; what is important is I have them listed and therefore I will strive to complete it.
#4 Take in Some Fresh Air: sometimes the best thing to do is just go outside for a minute or two to give you a new perspective, a break or just a moment to relax. I actually do this all the time when my young kiddos are being “crazy.” We take a walk down the street or just sit on the porch. It’s amazing what a little bit of fresh air does—awakens your senses, gives you a sense or calm and gets your mind “back in the game.” Take a moment just to breathe it all in.
#5 Floss Your Teeth Daily: my Uncle Arlyn would be so proud that this made my top 10 list! I truly believe that taking care of your teeth is important not only for the appearance of a beautiful smile (CHEESE!) but also to prevent many diseases.
#6 Clean Up the Kitchen Before Going to Sleep at Night: this is a big one in our house–I absolutely will not go to sleep with the kitchen dirty. There is something almost magical about waking up, half asleep walking into your kitchen to get your first cup of coffee (or tea or whatever your morning routine is) and see a clean space. I promise it will give you not only a sense of peace to wake up to but also help you get mentally prepared for day since you are not nstaring at chaos!
#7 Wash Your Face Before Bed: not only will you feel refreshed crawling into bed with your face clean but all your nightly serums (anti-aging, skin smoothing) will penetrate your skin faster when it is clean. And to save time and the expense of cleaning that gorgeous face of yours, try our Norwex body cloths. Just ADD WATER (no cleaners) and wash away all the grime, dirt and makeup. So easy and the cloths are great for traveling—no worrying about size of containers, remembering different products like cleanser, eye makeup remover etc. Click here for a link to these awesome cloths. Trust me you will never want to go back to buying tons of cleaners, toners etc again.
#8 Keep the Germs Away: be diligent in keeping your family and you healthy. Wipe down shopping carts (top place to contract Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease according to my pediatrician), restaurant tables, kiddos when they get home from school, tops of food cans and all other “dirty” areas. I love Norwex’s Travel EnviroCloths for wiping down areas without toxic chemicals on the go (and the Reusable Wet Wipes bag to keep them in–link here). These additions to my routine have been such a lifesaver not only for convenience (no longer running out of hand sanitizer, wipes etc and worrying about the products actually having time to dry AND KILL THE GERMS before my kiddos touching the surfaces) but also have had a positive impact on my pocketbook since I don’t have to keep buying disposable products.
#9 Eat Greens, Take Your Vitamins: make sure you are including green vegetables as often as possible into your meals. We all should be consuming around 3 cups daily!! Also taking vitamins/supplements is vital to our health as most of our bodies are not getting all the nutrition they need. Every day I take a women’s multivitamin and probiotics. Gut health plays a vital role in controlling your weight, brain health, immune system functioning, producing serotonin (the HAPPY hormone) and so much more.
#10 Be Thankful: take a moment at the beginning, end or at some point throughout the day to look around and be grateful for who you are, who is in your life and the blessings given to you. I personally take time at the end of my day to say a quick prayer and say thank you.
