Let me start with saying that I’ve always strived to live a healthy lifestyle. And I’ve always been in shape thankfully to working out, but as I approached 40 this year, I decided I wanted to take my health to the next level and really see and challenge my body to become the healthiest version of itself post kids and in this crazy busy world we are in. Below is a breakdown of the things I have done that helped me lose 10 pounds and a dress size and give me the energy to feel my best self at 40!
Contrast Therapy
I’ve been cold plunging for over two years now and loved the energy it gives me and the fat burning component. Once I added in the contrast therapy, so adding sauna time along with the cold plunge and doing this regularly a couple times a week I noticed that not only was it burning fat it was reducing inflammation , helping to improve my workout recovery as well as helping with any pains in my joints and aliments. I start off in the sauna for 20 minutes at around 200°F, then I cold plunge for four minutes, then back in the sauna for another 15 minutes and I end with a two minute cold plunge. KETO Lifestyle
Let’s talk about keto guys! As an Italian, who enjoys Pasta dish and craves pizza, I will tell you I thought this was gonna be too much for me to do! Much to my surprise I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. There is nothing more satisfying than having a delicious steak with tons of butter on it and a side vegetable to make you feel healthy. Taking good clean supplements is also key and not just for losing weight but to feel your best! Daily MOVEMENT
In my opinion, if you want to look your best self at middle age, then you want to have a great mix of different daily movement exercises. I like to have a mixture of fat burn walks, lifting weights, running and yoga. I love doing fat burn walks– which means I’m keeping my heart rate in fat burn range–I used the app Zones to initially figure out what was my fat burn zone. Then I use my Apple Watch, click HERE to check out the watch. I love to make sure I’m in that zone the entire time I’m doing a fat burn walk; that may mean that every now and then I have to do a very slow jog to get my heart rate up into the zone. Also, I do think once you hit your 30s, making sure you’re lifting weights a few times a week is key on staying trim, feeling strong and having energy!
