As we near the holidays, we all will be setting up dining tables to gather with our family and friends to celebrate the season. And I don’t know about you but for some reason (even though I host dinner parties frequent) I always forget what side the darn fork goes on!
Here are some friendly tips to help you dress your table.
•“Fork” has 4 letters and so does “Left” therefore the forks go on the left.
•If you have a dinner fork (bigger) and a salad fork (smaller), the smaller salad fork goes further away from the plate. To remember that, think that the salad is coming first before dinner and you want to work from the outside to the inside for the cutlery.
•Knife and Spoon both have 5 letters therefore go on the right since “Right” has 5 letters too!
•The Spoon goes on the outer side on the right as it is for soup and just like the fork salad the soup would be served first so the spoon needs to be easily accessible.
•Dessert fork or spoon goes above your plate, pointed towards the left
•For your napkin, it can go under your fork combo, in between your dinner plate and salad plate, on your dinner plate, under your dinner plate, or in an unfilled water glass (although I suggest having those all filled before sitting down for dinner)
I can’t wait to see your gorgeous table settings!!
