Let’s spice up the night! Literally, let’s take your every day tomato sauce and let’s transform it into a delicious spicy arrabbiata sauce with ground bison (OMG, I am seriously drooling just typing this out for you guys!! It’s that good!)
It’s made with the ingredients we all know and love in a traditional marinara sauce but by simmering the red pepper flakes in an oil/butter combo at the beginning you get a deep dense pop of flavor and spice carried evenly throughout the dish. Then throw in some ground bison and WOW!
Enough talking, let get started. Here’s what you need to yield 6-8 servings–>
Ingredients
Directions:
4. Add the canned tomatoes, basil and seasonings to the pan. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until tomatoes are softened and again use the back of a spoon to press them into the pan.
5. Then add the ground bison, use your hands to crumbles the bison as it enters the sauce. Let the sauce continue to cook for another 25 minutes until it has thickened–making sure to stir occasionally.
6. Serve the sauce over pasta, veggies or eat by itself (yes, it’s that good!).
Optional: Add in a few handfuls of spinach and let simmer for 2 minutes before serving to get those greens! Add some crispy eggplant strips to the dish too!
