Growing up I can remember sitting around the table with my mom and sisters during this time of year making handmade gifts for our neighbors and family. My mom always said how easy it is to buy someone a gift but it is so much more special to make something from your heart with your hands to show them the love you have for them. We made everything from homemade baked goods to painted ornaments and everything in between. I’ll never forget the look on the gift receivers faces as they learned the gift they just got was made just for them by us.

As I have gotten older I have tried to continue this tradition not only with my kids making holiday gifts but also by making them myself to gift either to the hostess of a party I’m attending, to those who come to our annual Christmas party, to my husband’s staff and our neighbors. The same thrill I remember getting from gifting as a child still happens to me as an adult and it’s a feeling I highly suggest you getting.

Stovetop Potpourri Jars

Here is what you need to make them:

  • Bag of fresh cranberries (don’t use frozen as they will sweat and you will have red coloring everywhere!)
  • Dried orange slices (slice orange slices thin and then place in 200 degree oven for 2-4 hours)
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Fresh Rosemary
