If there is one thing I realized by social distancing this past week, it’s that I definitely needed to SLOW DOWN. In the hustle and bustle of the world we all live in we sometimes find ourselves rushing around nonstop that we barely have time to enjoy the beauty around us.
This past week by slowing down I realized so many things:
- Even though we do things as a family every week, we haven’t truly given ourselves to each during that time as we were always focused on what is next. Now that we slowed down and don’t have any place to be next we were able to truly enjoy the moment.
- My daughter’s actually DON’T fight all the time. With 2 littles so close in age it’s natural for them to fight over toys, spending time with a parent, where they want to sit on the couch etc BUT now that we all are with each other 24/7 they are learning how to work things out. They are loving on each other more, asking each other to play games and giving the biggest hugs I have ever seen!
- Nothing beats getting outside and enjoying some sunshine ☀️! I am a big runner so I’m use to running all around the neighborhood and seeing people out walking, riding 🚲 , playing, running etc BUT I have never seen so many people out as there were this week. So many new faces going for walks, hiking on our neighborhood trails, laughing in lawns with their kids. Fresh air and sun really do make a difference and improve your mood.
- Cleaning can be fun and so rewarding (especially when kids help)! My kids and I had a cleaning battle. We picked our weapons of choice—Norwex dusting mitt, mop and window cloth (and since Our Norwex microfiber uses only 💦 to clean I didn’t have to worry about toxic chemicals getting on them)—and “battled” out who could get things clean first!
As this state of distancing may be our new normal for awhile, I am going to try my hardest to enjoy this period of slowing down to enjoy the beauty around me. I hope you will do the same.
